Part time - St Matthew Catholic Community

The Coordinator of Faith Formation & Youth Ministry conducts and coordinates the parish religious education programs including but not limited to: Faith formation program (grades K-5) and Total Youth Ministry (grades 6-12); sacramental preparation program for First Reconciliation, First Communion, Christian Initiation for both children and adults (RCIA); and helps facilitate adult faith formation.

Highly qualified candidates will have a strong understanding of the Catholic faith; be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the church; comfortable working with youth from ages 4-18 (and most especially with middle and high schoolers); have some experience in Catholic Faith Formation or Youth Ministry; willing to work on site on Sunday mornings.

Key Responsibilities / day-to-day job functions:

• Plans and directs parish faith formation/religious education programs.
• Initiates and maintains accurate records on students, families, catechists and volunteers.
• Recruits volunteer catechists from within the Parish according to Diocesan policies.
• Prepares students and RCIA candidates for sacraments through curriculum, retreats, and training.
• Collaborates with the Pastor and Director of Music regarding sacramental celebrations, appropriate music selections and instruction in the classrooms.

Minimum Requirements:

• Employment is contingent upon applicants satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 60 days of hire.
• Willingness to share one’s faith and interact in a classroom setting with students grades K-12.
• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
• Some experience in Catholic Faith Formation and/or Youth Ministry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Diocesan norms of Faith Formation, First Communion and Confirmation.
• Provide support to Catechist volunteers by preparing lessons for multiple age groups.
• Lead or substitute for Catechists for multiple age groups.
• Strong oral and written communications.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
