The Msgr. William F. O’Brien Assembly was founded in July, 2012 and is graciously hosted by St. Matthew parish. Our Assembly of
75 Sir Knights from councils in Durham and Roxboro was established in honor of the first Catholic priest in Durham county, Msgr. William F. O’Brien. Msgr. William F. O’Brien served as the first resident pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Durham, NC from 1906 to 1951.
Sir Knights in our Assembly are from St. Matthew, Immaculate Conception, Holy Infant, Holy Cross and Saints Mary and Edward Catholic churches. We are truly an Assembly of active councils.
As the Patriotic and Ceremonial order of the Knights of Columbus, our Sir Knights serve our parishes and the community by providing Honor and Color guards for funerals, parades and special Masses. We support Veterans and our military through multiple service programs and events each year.
Sir Knight Andrew Sciacca is our Faithful Navigator, and our Assembly meets monthly the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 in the St. Matthew parish center. All 3rd Degree Knights are encouraged to join our Assembly and those interested can contact our Faithful Comptroller Christopher Cushing.
