Being Catholic is more than a set of Christian ideals, or a group of worshipping communities. It is, instead, a holy and holistic way of life. If we “do” it right, our choice to follow Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church will have effects that challenges, and even transforms every aspect of our spiritual life. While this transformation is the goal of every Catholic, the variety of possible beginnings means we do not all approach it by the same path ... or end in the same place.
Some of us are first drawn to the Church through the good example or ‘something different’ we witness in a family member, friend, neighbor, or citizen. Others begin from a shared commitment, like Jesus, to the poor, disenfranchised or those in need. While one person may be attracted by the beauty of Catholic worship, another could discover the beauty of Catholic practices without having yet set foot in a church.
Whatever may have sparked your interest in Catholics, we invite you to learn more with us at our St. Matthew Community, not only through the resources we share on this web page but more importantly in person with our Vibrant and Giving Faith Community. To start asking questions about Catholic belief or practice, or to explore becoming Catholic, please contact Deacon Desi Vikor or Susan Clifton, Pastoral Associate.
